Wish List
Well it seems that LEGOŽ granted some of my wishes for 1999!
(I've removed them from the list now) I guess I better be careful what I wish for.
The crossover is great but I'm not too impressed by their implementation
of the Chunnel Train.
What would you like to see LEGOŽ add to the Train range?
Here some suggestions...
Track
- Diamond crossing (like the Duplo one).
- Half straights.
- Larger radius curves with a diameter of 7 straights (112 studs), so that
you can make a double oval with the track spaced 16 studs apart.
- Different styles of points that allow...
- Slips between two parallel tracks 16 studs apart.
- Points on curves (imagine a circle with tangent off it).
- Remote operated points and signals.
- A motorized turntable.
- Flexible track, about 48 studs long. Then again, maybe not, that
would be a tad tricky to support in my Track Designer program!
Accessories
- A 6 wheel train motor, with spoked wheels and a coupling rod like the
old 12V one so that you can make more realistic Steam Engines.
- More wheel sizes, larger ones and small
ones in between the current standard size and the tiny size. These could
be used for making a 4-6-2 Steam Engine for example.
- Spares packs containing train doors/windows, overhead pickups, cabs etc.
- Working station lights without the ugly wires in the 12V versions.
- A train sensor for the Code Pilot or Mindstorms.
- A train sound effects module, for "chuff-chuffs" or a diesel horn.
- A multiple train controller system, such as DCC (Digital Command Control)
where the track is powered continuously and decoders in the train motors
control the speed using signals from a central command station.
- An automatic decoupler (combined with the Mindstorms sensor
you could build a computerized shunting yard).
- A ZNAP based brigde.
Sets
- A Steam Engine set, maybe the Orient Express with brown and tan coaches.
- Small polybag sets, for example, buffers, manual signals, railway
workers, handcar etc.
- A factory with a freight platform.
- An engine shed.
- Water Tower.
- A signal box.
- A Light Rail Passenger Train, 2 or 3 flat-fronted coaches, the type
that have the motors underneath (which is after all how LEGOŽ Trains
work!)
- A long tanker wagon with bogies.
