Eight sections of curved track, enough to make half a circle. Each piece is 8 studs wide and approximately 16 studs long. The resulting semicircle is equivalent to 5 straights, i.e. it has a radius of 2.5 straights. On each piece there are effectively 4 sleepers, each 2x8, but the joints are made along the middle of the end sleepers so there are actually 3 whole sleepers and two half sleepers per curve. The sleepers are in dark grey plastic. The track snaps together by placing two pieces flat on a surface and simply pushing them together. Damaging the track with rough handling seems to be almost impossible since bending the joint in any direction just makes it come apart. Electricity is conducted by a metal capping on each rail.
Curves cannot be clipped onto baseplates like the straights can but the sleepers can still be attached to LEGOŽ bricks which is useful for making pylons. Each piece has a hole in the middle sleeper that will take a small screw with a countersunk head allowing a layout to be permanently fixed to a wooden board. Notches are cut into the underside of the track at one end that are just right to feed wire under the track. These aren't really necessary on carpet but essential if you do screw the track to a board.
