A crossover track that allows one track to cross at right angles to another. Essentially, it is two straight 16 stud tracks joined in the middle.
This is in fact very similar to the crossover track project that I did many years ago. It is subtly different however, the centre is solid plastic and it has single stud wide sleepers! Did they deliberately deviate from my design I wonder?
I haven't obtained this piece yet but I'm willing to bet anything that the two tracks are completely isolated from each other so that each direction can be on a different circuit (or more importantly, so that it doesn't matter which way round you build a figure of eight - you'll have to think about that). And like my project, there must be conductors underneath that bridge the gaps in the rails.
