| Stock Single Engine Division (SSE) | |
| Length | 48 studs or less (3 pieces of track) |
| Motor(s) | One stock LEGO® train motor |
| Passenger | At least one driver |
| Rolling Stock | Racer must consist of one engine and one piece of rolling stock. Engine can be in either the front or the back and can be coupled any way desired, but must remained coupled though out the race. |
| Materials | Racer must be constructed with stock non-modified LEGO® bricks and parts. |
| Stock Multi Engine Division (SME) | |
| Length | 48 studs or less (3 pieces of track) |
| Motor(s) | Any number of stock LEGO® train motors |
| Passenger | At least one driver |
| Rolling Stock | Racer must consist of two train cars coupled any way desired, but must remained coupled though out the race. Either train car can contain an engine, or both. |
| Materials | Racer must be constructed with stock non-modified LEGO® bricks and parts. |
| Modified Single Engine Division (MSE) | |
| Length | 48 studs or less (3 pieces of track) |
| Motor(s) | One modified train motor |
| Passenger | At least one driver |
| Rolling Stock | Racer must consist of one engine and one piece of rolling stock. Engine can be in either the front or the back and can be coupled any way desired, but must remained coupled though out the race. |

Racer may use up to 50% of modified LEGO® or non-LEGO®
parts, but must be able to run on standard LEGO® train track.
The use of flammable combustion materials for propulsion is prohibited. |
| Modified Multi Engine Division (MME) | |
| Length | 48 studs or less (3 pieces of track) |
| Motor(s) | Any number of modified train motors |
| Passenger | At least one driver |

These regulations are the only official guidelines set up by the Rail Racers™ Association. These rules supersede any other posted rules of Rail Racers™ events.
These regulations are subject to change by decision of the Rail Racers Association.
In the event of a change the rules that were current as of the morning of the Rail Racer Event will be the ones applied to all races for that day.
